In addition to the support we have received from scientific sources, my research would not have been possible without the help of the broader community.

In 2017, the Ireland Basking Shark Project (a collaboration with the Irish Basking Shark Study Group and Queen’s University, Belfast) was supported largely through crowdfunding. The money we received was used to purchase four continuous pinging sensor tags and one accelerometer. With these, we will be able to tag and track the movement of at least four basking sharks in Malin Head, Ireland from 2018-2020 to provide valuable, novel data about this endangered species.

Thank you very much to those who donated their time to learning about the project and their money to make it happen.

If you are interested in sponsoring a project, please see my CONTACT page. Stay tuned for more crowdfunding opportunities in the future!
